EMC shielding

EMC shielding materials

More and more sources of electromagnetic waves are emerging in industry, the home and the public sphere. Electric motors, smartphones, wireless cameras, powerful power lines, WLAN and Bluetooth devices, screens and electronic light are permanently increasing the amount of electrical interference fields. Electromagnetic shielding (EMI shielding) is used to protect devices from the effects of this "electro-smog". However, EMC shielding also protects the area around appliances from the electromagnetic waves emitted. For example, a housing shield made of metal film can be used at a time when the PCB design can no longer be changed. Together with a Formex™ film entire enclosure inserts can be designed to be electrically insulating and electromagnetically shielding with a UL94 - V0 flammability rating.

CMC Klebetechnik offers highly shielding products based on metal films and metallized fabrics. Attenuations of over 80 dB are achieved in the frequency range from a few dozen kHz to several GHz. The material can be self-adhesive and can even be applied to walls like wallpaper. This means that metallized nonwovens can be used to achieve large-area, efficient, lightweight and breathable shielding. In enclosures, die-cutted parts made of copper film, for example, can be used for electromagnetic shielding. These are often laminated with polyester film for insulation.

Here you will find further information on some products as well as specialist articles on the subject of EMC shielding. Your Personal contact person will be happy to assist you in selecting the right product for your application, as we have a large number of other products for EMC shielding.

Total thickness: approx. 0.070 mm
Soft copper, tin-plated on both sides (CMC 91815) with a narrower self-adhesive polyester cover (CMC 10739)

CMC 80782
Polyamide fleece
Film thickness: 0.035 mm
Total thickness: 0.065 mm
Our CMC 80872 is a metallized polyamide fleece with very low surface resistance, equipped with an electrically conductive acrylate adhesive. It has a very good shielding effect.

CMC 91743
Soft copper
Film thickness: 0.035 mm
Total thickness: 0.065 mm
CMC 91743 is a self-adhesive shielding film based on soft copper. The adhesive layer is filled with electrically conductive particles, making it easy to make contact with the substrate.

CMC 91815
Soft copper
Film thickness: 0.035 mm
Total thickness: 0.065 mm

The CMC 91815 metal adhesive tape is based on a tin-plated copper film on both sides and, in addition to excellent conductivity, has advantages such as good solderability and high corrosion resistance (significantly better than copper).

Equipped with an electrically conductive adhesive for shielding and contacting of all kinds.
