Assembling non-adhesive punched parts on rolls with application tape from CMC Klebetechnik

Every die-cutting company is familiar with the following two problems with die-cut parts made of non-adhesive material: How do I get the individual parts out of the tool area? And how do I "pack" molded parts such as sealing rings, felt die-cut parts, molded parts made of film or rubber so that they can be further processed as easily as possible?

CMC Klebetechnik offers the solution to both problems.

The idea: the non-adhesive material is laminated together with a weakly adhesive tape and can thus be processed in a rotary die-cutting tool, for example. CMC Klebetechnik offers the CMC 12089 application tape for this technique, which fulfills several functions at once:

A 100µm thick polyester film stabilizes the material to be punched. In this way, even slightly stretchy materials such as silicone rubber or less rigid nonwovens and felts can be processed in a rotary die-cutting machine. The punching accuracy is increased by the tensile strength of the polyester film, which does not stretch when the material is transported through the punching tool.

The hard and dimensionally stable film with a thickness of 0.1 mm is an ideal base for punching. This allows the die-cutting knives to penetrate much deeper than with paper (e.g. due to splitting of the paper) or with thin carrier films. In addition, the adhesive-coated polyester film does not give way to the punching pressure of the knife lines and therefore enables excellent punching results.

The low-tack acrylic adhesive is applied very thinly to the adhesive tape (approx. 3-5µm). It adheres reliably to many materials without developing excessive adhesive strength. In this way, thin foils as well as thick punched parts made of felt can be reliably transported out of the tool area after the punching process.

In the next processing step (at the customer's premises), for example, the parts can be transported via a Label dispenser (also available from CMC) can be easily removed from the application film.

Conclusion: The CMC 12089 application tape enables die-cutting companies to produce efficiently by processing the same kind of adhesive materials (adhesive baths, labels, etc.). And for the customer, the possibility of automated further processing is made easier with these die-cut parts lined up on a tape.
